Franklin and Rice team up for concert supporting inner city children

Aretha Franklin is teaming up with former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for a benefit concert later this month. Though the partnership seems, well weird, Franklin confirms that Rice is more than talented on the piano.

“Rice is a consummate classical pianist. Since I sing the arias, I thought that we could do something, a bipartisan effort for our favorite charities,” Franklin said.

Turns out, this isn’t the first time that Ms. Rice has publicly played the piano. At 15, she played with the Denver Symphony and, in the past, performed with cellist Yo-Yo Ma.

The duo will perform on July 27 at Philadelphia’s Mann Center for the Performing Arts. Rice will be performing works by Mozart and more, and Franklin will be performing songs from her new album, A Woman Falling Out of Love.
