Surgery went well for Aretha Franklin

Aretha Franklin has had a very rough year. She’s been plagued by continuous health problems that have forced her to cancel the majority of her tour dates since the summer. And she’s suffered as only a mother can when her son was seriously hurt after being attacked by an assailant in their hometown of Detroit.

However, it looks like Franklin’s misfortunes have turned a corner.

The voluptuous diva underwent surgery on Thursday and noted the procedure was “highly successful” in her statement to the Associated Press. What we don’t know is exactly what she’s been treated for. This is still a mystery, and she’s not telling.

But the 68-year-old singer is on the mend, affirming, “God is still in control. I had superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country.”
